Becca Kufrin says Thomas Jacobs' brief breakup came because he needed "more than real life

"I think the break-in that very brief commercial finally brought us back together," said Becca Kufrin.

Talk to E! In the news, Kufrin opened up about why she ended her relationship with Jacobs in last year's Bachelor in Paradise - and why it ended up helping them in the long run.

"Everything, I think, happened for a reason," said Kufrin, 32. "When we met at the beach for a short time, everything went smoothly. That's perfect. But for me, I need a more authentic life. I think that breakup in this very brief relationship finally brought us back together.

The decision to separate was not an easy one for Kufrin. Citing the aftermath, the former One Girl Girl presenter said she "just cried" in her hotel room. "I was like, 'I need to get his number and call him and see if I can fix it,'" he added. "We broke up on the beach. You had no responsibility to anyone to be together unless it was up to the other person to be together," Jacobs, 29, told the news. "I know myself; it's much more real."

Jacobs added: "We could have chosen to leave, and no one would have said anything. Instead, we voted for each other and continue to vote for each other every day." After their brief split was seen in the BiP Season 7 finale, the couple confirmed their reconciliation on social media.

"I'm sorry I broke up with you on national TV, but I'll be ordering every day for this Tommy," Kufrin wrote on Instagram. "Thank you for making my heart smile more than ever. Now it's time to start this real life." Now, Kufrin and Jacobs are in a great place-and even talking seriously about their future together. He recently said that engagement "has been talked about for a long time," adding that "it's definitely on the horizon."
