Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday night, the 47-year-old comedian opened up about his experience with abortion following the recent Supreme Court ruling that ousted Rowe v. Wade. Handler opened on his first night to replace Jimmy Kimmel on his late-night show, which continues this week.
In her opening remarks, Handler said she had three abortions at school. The following night, the star shared how she wanted her alma mater in New Jersey to feel talking about her.
"I recently learned that my high school in New Jersey, Livingston High School, refused to introduce me to their alumni fame," he began, noting that both alumni Jason Alexander and Chris Christie were accepted.
"The school was annoyed with me talking about abortion so much I decided to start a mass campaign," he continued. In a statement to the New York Post, a spokesperson for Livingston Public Schools dismissed Handler's claims.
"On behalf of the current Livingston Public Schools administration team, Miss Handler is not denied entry to the LEF Hall of Fame," Michelle Bent, communications and community coordinator, said in a statement.
"Following an email exchange with her representative in February/March 2022 about how the region can honor Ms. Handler and lengthy discussions with the Livingston Education Foundation (LEF), the district informed its representatives that next time LEF would be considered a candidate. under consideration," continued Bent.
"Have fun with it. Make me proud," Handler concluded. "Livingston High School, the hall is in your courtyard."
