Handler told the paper she was quick to ask her doctor if her condition was "immediate" or had progressed over time.
After being hospitalized in February, the comedian had to cancel many shows on his Vaccinated & Horny tour.
Chelsea Handler opened up about the health scare that led to her being admitted to the hospital earlier this year.
The 47-year-old comedian revealed on his E! A digital history of the news that she developed stress cardiomyopathy in February. "It's basically like you hurt your heart in one moment with too much adrenaline," he explains.
Due to the American Heart Association, cardiomyopathy is a form of heart disease that affects the heart muscle, assembling it challenging to pump blood throughout the body.
"And he said, 'Yeah, that's an example, but you've been stressed for a long time, and you probably don't even notice,'" she recalls. "And I was like, 'Oh, mit.'" Handler added that her doctor said her diagnosis was surprising because it's the opposite of her laid-back personality portrayed on screen and in her comedy shows. She said her doctor asked, "Isn't that all your bullshit not to take yourself too seriously?"
After Handler agreed, he told E! that he added, "Well, you should start taking your advice because you take yourself too seriously."
And I thought, "God, you're right. What am I doing here? Am I so stressed that I ended up in the hospital?" Handler continued: "I want to say that I'm fine. Everything is healed, and I am ready. But I said, "Oh, good advice: Practice what you preach." The Handler first announced that she was hospitalized in February and shared it on Instagram. Due to health reasons, she had to cancel many concerts in Oregon during his comedy tour "Vaccinated & Horny."
Are you there? Vodka It's me; the Chelsea writer shot a video of him in hospital, reassuring fans that he is fine and will find alternative dates for the canceled show.
