In an news with the on Tuesday, the British radio presenter said he had raised more than £1 million (equivalent to $1,233.00) in 24 hours for his Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research initiative.
"I was blown away," James told the BBC. "I can not thank people enough for their generosity. It means a lot to me. I feel loved. But it makes me feel like we're all in it, and we all want to make a difference, and we're like, "Did you know? Get the Cancer out." But, you know, we can do better."
He continued, "We can make people better, and we just need to show them who's boss." But you don't realize how little time we have to organize things at once. If I think: "Oh yeah, I'm going to die," I probably would have started organizing half a year ago."
According to the BBC, James, who was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016, says his dad and girlfriend helped build the online campaign Reasons - Laugh, giggle, share about the possibilities of living with Cancer and discover what Cancer looks like. In an emotional message shared on Instagram on Monday, the BBC presenter revealed she was in the hospital and wrote in part: "A letter I never wanted to write. We've tried everything, but my body won't cooperate. So my active treatment has ended, and I am now transferred to a hospice care home with my wonderful family around me. The focus is on making sure I am not in pain and spending time with them.
