Elon Musk Highest-Paid CEO, Pursued by Tim Cook: Report

According to Musk, the ten highest-paid Fortune 500 CEOs for 2021 are all tech and biotech executives, including Apple (Tim Cook), Netflix (Reed Hastings), Microsoft (Satya Nadela), Tesla, and CEO SpaceX. Elon Musk topped the list of Fortune 500 top executives in 2021.

According to Musk, the top 10 Fortune 500 CEOs for 2021 are all CEOs in the tech and biotechnology industries, including Apple (Tim Cook), Netflix (Reed Hastings), and Microsoft (Satya Nadela).

In 2021, Musk "realized" nearly $23.5 billion in compensation from exercising some of Tesla's stock options granted under a 2018 multi-year grant.

Tesla is ranked 65th on this year's Fortune 500. The company was successful in 2021, generating $53.8 billion in revenue, a 71% increase from 2020. Meanwhile, Apple's CEO made $770.5 million in 2021 alone, primarily part of a $1.7 billion annual stock. The tech giant is ranked 3rd in the Fortune 500.

The report said that the company faced challenges due to a shortage of chips globally but managed to start producing its own devices.

Hang, co-founder of NVIDIA, and Reed Hastings of Netflix took third and fourth place.
