On Saturday, Scott Hamilton completed his second annual Erase the Trail and crossed the finish line to applause from family, friends, and fans.
Twenty-five years after completing his third round of testicular cancer chemotherapy, Hamilton, 63, completed his second annual 444-mile bike ride on the Erase Trail on Saturday to raise funds and awareness for glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) cancer research.
Reflecting on his chemotherapy journey more than two decades ago, the Olympic gold medalist in figure skating said on Instagram, "I remember how I felt at the time, and I had no hope for the future." he continues to follow in Nachez's footsteps to raise funds for glioblastoma cancer research," he continued, "There is hope. Stay here. "
The figure skating icon, living with her third benign brain tumor, was surprised by her sons - Max, 14, and Aiden, 18 - who joined her for the last few miles in Nashville.
Hamilton began his trip Tuesday to Natchez, Mississippi, before traveling to various parts of the state, including Clinton, French Camp, and Saltillo.
On Friday, he reached Collinwood, Tennessee, and ran the final 87.8 miles to the finish line on Saturday, where family, friends greeted him, and fans at Loveless Cafe in Nashville.
Joining Hamilton on the journey are Johnny Burrell, a Nashville-based craniosacral therapist (3-plate cyclist), and Scott Williams (the show's creator), who lives with glioblastoma.
The event attracted donations from 43 states and 30 states to support travel and raise money for innovative cancer research as part of the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation.
