Martin Sorel, founder, and chairman of media firm S4 Capital believes the war in Ukraine has the potential to benefit America's three most prominent tech companies.
"I like the tech giants because war will hit them," Sorel told News Monday at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
He added: "The big 3 Google (or Alphabet), Meta, and Amazon would benefit from a war.
Explaining his thoughts, Sorel said, "Defense means cyber Defense and cybercrime, so technology and technology companies are becoming increasingly important.
Sorel stopped short of saying exactly how Alphabet, Meta, and Amazon could benefit, but all 3 companies boast that their cybersecurity approaches are world-leading.
Google and Amazon and provide cloud computing infrastructure that governments and cyber companies can use for cyber warfare. Google, Amazon, also Meta did not immediately respond to news request for comment.
The war in Ukraine is being waged online and offline, with hackers from every country targeting enemy national infrastructure, businesses, governments, and citizens.
In recent weeks, shares of big tech companies have fallen on fears of persistently high inflation, advancing interest rates, also the risk of a global recession. As a result, the Nasdaq stock market fell 3.8% last week, falling for the seventh week. This is the most extended losing streak for the tech index in 21 years.
When asked if the world was ready for a second dot-com bubble, Sorel said there was already a "mass correction," adding that some believed there could be an additional 5-10% correction.
