Halsey opened up about her experience with abortion.
"I have given detailed instructions regarding my organ donation in case I die or are declared brain dead," Halsey wrote in response to Roe recently. against Wade's decision
After Roe recently. Against Wade, the "Without Me" singer wrote an open letter published in Vogue on Friday, saying the abortion "saved my life."
"Many people have asked me whether, since getting pregnant after years of struggling, I have reconsidered my position on abortion," wrote Halsey, 27. "The answer is no. I've never felt so strongly."
"My abortion saved my life and let my son have it," Halsey continued. "Every human has the right to choose when, if and how to live this dangerous and life-changing experience. I will hold my son in one hand and fight with all my might with the other." The pop star welcomed son Ender Ridley with partner Alev Ayden in July 2021.
Noting that she "miscarried three times before my 24th birthday," the singer explained, "It seems so ironic that I could have gotten pregnant so easily, but I struggled to keep the pregnancy."
"One of my miscarriages required a 'follow-up,' which is a gentle way of saying I need an abortion because my body can't complete the pregnancy on its own, and I would be risking sepsis without medical intervention," the singer added.
"I cried during this procedure. I was afraid of myself, and I was helpless. I wanted to end a pregnancy that was threatening my life."
Halsey also shared that they were so traumatized by past experiences that they even rewrote their will in their third trimester while carrying Ender. "It's funny that while my own heart is nothing more than a series of involuntary movements on the operating table, a beating heart in my stomach could mean I disapproved of saving my own life," Halsey said.
When it was announced last month that the Supreme Court ruled Roe v. Wade, who has been in office since 1973, Halsey tweeted that they felt "lost" by the decision.
