In Martha's imagination, Darby Gaslitt's camp reveals that he 'influenced' his daughter Marty

Darby Kemp plays Julia Roberts' daughter in the STARZ Watergate series Gaslit. Darby talks about how Marty needs to "mature" fast, how he works with Julia, and more.

Gaslit is the latest in the STARZ series, executed to the brim with star power. The show revolves around the revelation of the Watergate scandal and this time focuses on Martha Mitchell, who becomes Watergate's most giant scout. Darby Camp plays Marty Mitchell, the daughter of Martha and John Mitchell, who, as a young girl, finds herself in a very mature world.

"His relationship with his parents has had ups and downs," Darby told HollywoodLife. "His mother dragged him to all these parties, and he was always around adults and in his mother's shadow. This affected Marty, and he matured very quickly. He was 11 years old. He never had a real childhood, so I'm sad for him. It's exciting just to watch and see how it affects them.

Martha Mitchell, played by Academy Award winner Julia Roberts, is a larger-than-life presence at any social gathering. However, Darby noted that Marty was "quite naive" and didn't want to "cause conflict" with his parents. He still does whatever makes his mother happy," he added.

Darby has worked with the Hollywood icon before, and she is "so excited" that Julia and Sean Penn will be playing her parents on screen. "Before I auditioned, I saw Pretty Woman for the first time, so I'm already a huge fan. It made me work harder and meet Miss Julia and Mr. Sean," Darby told HollywoodLife. The young actress had to work with Julia for most of Gaslit's production. "He was a genuine, kind, and humble person," Darby admired Julia.
