In October, Phoebe Bridgers says she had an abortion: Everyone deserves this kind of access

"This is for Greg Abbott," he wrote on Instagram as he released the song.

On Tuesday, the singer spoke about her attempted abortion following a draft opinion setting out the Supreme Court's intention to ask Roe v. Cross.

Phoebe Bridgers said she had an abortion in October and stressed the need for abortion access amid news that the Supreme Court ruled Rowe v. Wade will likely pick up next month.

On Tuesday afternoon, the 27-year-old Kyoto singer opened up about her experience on her Instagram story.

"I had an abortion while on tour last October," said Bridges. "I went to Planned Parenthood, where they offered me the abortion pill. It was easy. Everyone deserves that access." The four-time Grammy nominee also included a link to a "huge list of places you can donate now" to help fund abortions in states with restricted access to the procedure.

Bridges shared her experience hours after a draft opinion confirmed Tuesday morning by Chief Justice John Roberts as authentic, the Supreme Court's intent to oust Rowe v. Wade. Abortion is still a constitutionally guaranteed right in the United States pending a final decision, expected to occur in late June.

Still, if Roe is overturned, at least 23 states will likely ban or severely restrict the procedure.

When news of the leak spread Monday night, Bridgers attended the Met Gala with her boyfriend, actor Paul Mescal. The two have been linked since 2020 and made their relationship official on Instagram in December 2021.

Bridgers has been talking about abortion rights for a long time. In October, after Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed an abortion ban law after being six weeks pregnant, he released a cover of Bo Burnham's "That's a Funny Feeling" and sold it to Bandcamp, with all proceeds going to the Texas Abortion Fund, a website away. For a donation that divides the money among ten different groups that help people in the state with abortion.
