ISIS is designated as a terrorist organization by several countries and international organizations, including the United States.

The global community first witnessed the capabilities of the ISIS offshoot, ISIS-Khorasan (ISIS-K), in 2014. During that time, ISIS-K began a campaign of beheading Americans and committing genocide against Christians and Yazidis in Iraq.

Today, this terrorist group continues to grow and enhance its capacity to harm innocent civilians worldwide.

Given this ongoing threat, it is imperative that the U.S. government prioritizes national security efforts. However, President Biden's immigration policies, which are perceived as lenient, are providing ISIS-K with direct access to the United States. Recent reports highlight instances of ISIS-K affiliates crossing the southern border.

In February 2022, Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) detained an illegal immigrant from Uzbekistan named Jovokhir Attoev. Despite concerns, CBP released Attoev, a single military-aged male who had traversed multiple countries, into the country in accordance with Biden's protocols.

During Pride Month in 2024, the FBI and DHS issued warnings of a "heightened threat" of terrorism. This underscores the urgency of addressing security vulnerabilities. Last May, the Uzbek government issued a global alert regarding Attoev's ties to ISIS-K. However, it wasn't until last month that the Biden administration located him, allowing him to remain under the radar within the United States for two years.
