Will smacked Chris for making a joke about Jada's hair loss condition during a night of celebrating cinema. However, what many thoughts were a staged performance turned out to be a genuine moment. Will Smith has since been defended by the Academy and several other celebrities, including Zoe Kravitz and Jim Carrey. Though his award was not rescinded, the actor is now barred from attending future Oscar ceremonies for the next ten years. He will, however, be nominated. Jada Pinkett Smith has now revealed how her family is doing after the incident.

Jada Pinkett Smith released a written statement at the start of the fifth season of Red Table Talk. "Considering all that has occurred in the last some weeks, the Smith family has been focusing on deep healing," she wrote. "Some of our healing discoveries will be shared at the table when the time comes."

Until then, Will Smith's wife added, "the table will continue to offer itself to powerful, inspiring, also healing testimonies like that of our incredibly impressive first guest."

After the incident, Will took to social media to publicly apologize to Chris Rock, who has yet to speak out about it. However, something take a turn for the worse when Jada allegedly stated that she did not want Will to slap Rock.
