Jenny Garth reveals an early diagnosis of osteoarthritis

Jenny Garth didn't let an early diagnosis of osteoarthritis slow her down.

"I was like, 'I'm too young for arthritis,'" says Beverly Hills Alumni, 90210.

The 50-year-old alum from Beverly Hills, 90210, told Insider Thursday that he was diagnosed at age 47 after experiencing stiffness in his fingers and hands and knee pain.

"I thought I was too young for arthritis," he said. "When you hear the word arthritis, you associate it with the elderly and people who are immobile and unable to lead active lives." However, Garth refuses to let the diagnosis stop him from leading an active lifestyle, saying in the end: "It's just an exciting new development in my maturation. You don't see yourself as a procrastination or something holding you back from all the things you do every day." day."

"If you know what you're doing physically, there's always a solution," he added. "I definitely won't let anything limit me." Osteoarthritis is the most everyday form of arthritis and occurs "when the protective cartilage that softens the edges of bones thins over time," according to the Mayo Clinic.

This condition can affect all joint but is most common in the arms, knees, thighs, and spine. The damage is irreversible, but symptoms can be managed by staying active, maintaining a healthy weight, and healing. According to insiders, the mother-of-three enjoys playing golf and hiking with her dogs.

It also uses stretching to improve symptoms.

Garth said the results were that he wasn't taking any medication for his condition but rather applied an over-the-counter gel that provided "relief" from joint pain. In April, the actress recently celebrated her 50th birthday with some help from longtime BFF and Mystery Girls partner Tori Spelling, who shared a very chic 80s photo of the couple in full spandex for the occasion.

"He can kick...he can stretch...he's 50 years old!" Spelling, 48, began his statement by referring to Molly Shannon's favorite Saturday Night Live character, Sally O'Malley.

"Sally O'Malley Oops, I mean Jennifer Yves Garth, you embody someone where numbers are just numbers," she continued. "Today, you are more beautiful than 30 years ago. You are a very inspiring woman-what a great mother. You must be my mother's mentor. I love you so much. You are truly my sister in this life. Xo."
