John Batiste postpones Carnegie Hall show after COVID test: 'See you later'

Jon Batiste fans will have to be patient to see his symphony live.

Last month, Batiste won five Grammy Awards, including the coveted Album of the Year award for We Are

The Grammy winner announced Thursday that he and his team have tested positive for COVID-19 and are postponing their upcoming Carnegie Hall appearance.

The 35-year-old singer later quit other responsibilities, such as being a bandleader on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. See you later," Batiste said in his press release.

The musician shared photos from his rehearsal (including Thursday mornings) on social media and expressed anticipation for Saturday, which was supposed to be his premiere date.

On Sunday, he shared a video of himself playing the keyboard and practicing for the big night.

"Day 3 of AMERICAN SYMPHONY practice has ended. We had a burst at the end of your E-mu SP-1200 drum machine practice," he wrote to present my first symphony and share the stage with the most diverse and expert ensemble. Musician! See you @carnegiehall on 7th May."

Meanwhile, We Are musicians showed up at the Met Gala dressed as Ralph Lauren and performed at the ceremony on Monday. After winning five Grammys and a stunning awards show, Batiste called it a "beautiful moment" to news last month.

"The show and all the things that allow people to enjoy the music are always there," the Freedom singer said of her work. "Music has always been like that over a year ago when it was released. I just thought people needed something to put them in context."

"I always support myself. I never try to follow trends," he said, adding that this was only the "beginning" of his "journey" to share his music with millions of other people.

A new date for his show at Carnegie Hall has yet to be announced.
