Whether you are a startup or a CEO, you may need to understand the internet and mobile technology to be successful. Next on this list, Mark Cuban says artificial intelligence.
In a recent episode of the Colin Cowherd Podcast, hosted by Fox Sports host Colin Cowherd, the billionaire - whose first venture was a computer consulting service - said artificial intelligence was starting to take over the business world. He said it would soon become as important to companies as personal laptops and smartphones.
"There are two types of companies: those that are great at AI and others," said Kuban. "And you don't have to be great at AI to start a business, but you have to figure it out. It's like the first days of computers. You don't have to be good at using a computer, but it helps. Then network, then the internet, then cellular."
Kuban's comments echoed his remarks at the 2017 SXSW conference in Austin, Texas, when he said the world's first billionaire would become an artificial intelligence entrepreneur.
This training program aims to increase AI literacy among underserved students, at least in part to maintain global competitiveness. Last year, Cuban noted on Twitter that the world's five largest companies -- Alphabet, Apple, Amazon, Facebook, and Microsoft -- all prioritize AI equally.
"The companies that use AI best are the dominant companies," Kuban wrote. That's the basis of how I invest in stocks today.
If you want to see effective AI in action, Kuban said in the podcast, look no further than TikTok. He said this mastery of artificial intelligence platforms attracts many consumers, including Kuban and his children.
"The brilliance of TikTok is all artificial intelligence," Kuban said. "[He] uses AI to present things that interest you."
Cuban, who also owns the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, says platforms like TikTok even can save the industry by tailoring content to the interests and reach of individual users.
