Gillian Lynch's $8 wedding shoes are also saved for her big day... As many brides know, a wedding dress can be a significant expense. But thanks to savvy shoppers also social media, modest dresses are becoming a big bridal trend.
The bride, Gillian Lynch, won her wedding dress at a jewelry store for just $3.75 - and the dress is brand new.
Lynch, who married in May, shared her shopping spree on TikTok earlier this year and visited thrift stores in her Ohio area. However, when she posted a video in April showing a dress designed by Camila Coelho of Revolve - with the label - the story went viral. Lynch found a new maxi dress from Reyna that retails for $220 and is currently available online.
It almost fits; even though it wasn't originally for sale, it was her wedding dress. However, some of her TikTok followers chimed in with suggestions, such as offering to sew it a little tighter. And although Lynch says in her video that she likes the high slit in her legs, one follower suggested including a bit of lace at the top to lighten the look. Lynch also asked its tailors to swap the adjustable straps for non-adjustable ones to spice up the look.
"Brides tend to buy wedding dresses with their mother, their bridal party, or a group of people to get feedback," Lynch told Insider.com, sharing her story on TikTok. "I feel like this."
He continued, "When I heard the feedback about TikTok that seemed like it was made for me, I thought it surprised me. After creating this TikTok, I fell in love with it more every time I tried it. I feel so good in it."
