Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene discussed Marshall law with Trump aide Mark Meadows via text message

Please instruct him to declassify as much information as possible so that we can go after Biden also anyone else!"

According to text notifications revealed in a new report, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene urged a top White House aide to speak with then-President Donald Trump about imposing martial law after the Capitol Hill riot.

Greene texted then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows on January 17, 2021, "In our private chat with only Members, some are saying the only way to save our Republic is for Trump to call for Marshall law, " CNN reported Monday.

The phrase "Marshall law" appears to be a misspelling of martial law, the emergency power that places the military in charge of the government.

"I'm not sure about those things." "I just needyou to tell him," the first-term lawmaker reportedly said in a text message. "They cheated in this election." We're all aware. They will then destroy our country.

Meadows did not show to respond to Greene, according to news. Greene's office did not respond to news requests for comment on the report.

Greene allegedly sent that text three days before Trump was set to leave office after losing to President Joe Biden. Less than two weeks earlier, on January 6, a raucous crowd of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol building, forcing members of Congress to flee.

Trump had led the mob to the Capitol that day after falsely claiming for weeks that he had defeated his Democratic opponent and that the election was rigged against him. Greene, who has a history of embracing right-wing conspiracy theories, has also frequently cast doubt on the 2020 election in the aftermath of Biden's victory.

Elections experts, politicians from both parties, also even Trump's attorney general have all denied Trump's claims that widespread voter fraud influenced the election outcome.

In a December 2020 text message published by news, Greene asked Meadows for advice on preparing for objections to certifying the election on January 6: "We need to get ready for the 6th," she wrote.
