Ruby Barker thanks Bridgerton for her support after mental health treatment: 'I feel less alone'

Barker, 25, posted on the platform last week that he had been "awful for a very long time" and was getting help

Actress Bridgerton told her followers that "you make me so lucky to be alive" after being hospitalized with mental health issues in a video posted on her Instagram.

"I want to be honest with everyone. I have struggled," he said in an Instagram video on May 26. "Well, I'm in the hospital right now, I'll be out soon, and I hope to get on with my life and rest from myself."

In another Instagram update on Monday, the actress showed upbeat and refreshed, telling her 231,000 followers from the nature retreat that she's feeling a lot better. "I'm looking forward to the future; I'm fine; I'm in a wonderful environment to spend time with myself, relax, and breathe," Barker said. "Getting out, taking walks, talking to loved ones, trying not to run away are huge steps. If I had one piece of advice for my younger self, I would say, 'Listen, not everything is doom and gloom, even if it gets to the bottom.' "

She thanked the medical staff, family, friends, Bridgerton executive producer Shonda Rhimes, and her followers for all her support after sharing her decision to seek hospital care. Barker adds that advice from fellow Bridgerton colleague Claudia Jesse helped him improve his thinking.

"He told me to flip a coin: on the one hand, it might be boring, but flip a coin, and the other will shine. It trains your mind to find them funny, find the light, and find the positive," says Barker. "It's tough to do, but if you put it into practice, you've got it. I want everyone to feel good. And feel supported, loved, held, and heard. Whoever is in a dark place right now, I want you to know, you know, you feel. Find something cute and toss this coin. "
