Israel faces a national crisis over government plans to reform its judicial system. They sparked the largest Israeli protests in history and sparked a rare backlash from Israeli society, including military reservists, naval veterans, high-tech businessmen and former officials. As thousands took to the streets across the country on Thursday, Netanyahu, who is on trial over corruption, defiantly vowed to reverse the hours after his coalition passed a law making his ouster more difficult.

Netanyahu has postponed his departure to the UK until 4am on Friday to deal with the political crisis.
