The bad luck of an influencer at Coachella turns into a blessing for the Fresno Uber driver

Moore says Torres also cares about his father if that wasn't enough.

After Becca Moore is robbed at a music festival, she meets Raoul Torres while driving with him to pick up a new phone. Then he learned that Torres needed his help more than his help.

"I was at Coachella this weekend and thought this guy would hit me, but then he robbed me," Moore says at the start of his three-minute video on TikTok. If you're one of his 800,000 followers on TikTok, you probably recognize Moore for his nonchalant account of his life in meetings and other experiences.

While this video seems like another anecdote about an awkward accident, the story is much more than that. After his cell phone, wallet, and rental car keys were stolen at Coachella; influencers said he was banned. Uber called his friend's hotel to get to the Sprint shop, and that's when he met Torres.

"A regular Uber driver takes you somewhere and then leaves you. He insisted on coming with me and made sure I would go up after that.

But Torres did more than that.

"We went through the whole adventure from 10 am to 6 pm on what was supposed to be a full day for him, and in the end, I realized he needed more help than I did." Moore learned that Torres had driven from Fresno to Indio to earn extra money for his 18-year-old daughter.

"I said my birthday was June 16, and he said, 'Oh, my daughter was diagnosed with cancer on June 16.' It was 2020. Today, Myra is a graduate of Washington Union High in Easton, about six miles south of Fresno.

"And then he said, 'Yeah, he's on chemotherapy, he's struggling. He really can't stay awake, and he's losing a lot of weight,' and they were apprehensive about him.

"Unfortunately, his father passed away on Friday morning," he said.

His story inspired Moore to help. After posting the already viral Tik Tok on Thursday, he created a GoFundMe account for his new girlfriend. He raised more than $64,000 on the first day of the campaign.

"So I usually use my platform to talk about men, my dating life, and the silly things I see now are just skin-deep," she said. Moore said he got his phone back with the help of Torres, who also took him to the police station to provide a signal.
