US Moon mission suffers another setback, NASA's Artemis-1 launch forced
to halt again
Artemis-1 launch cancelled : The American space agency NASA has again canceled
the launch of its Artemis-1 mission. Scientists discovered a fuel
leak in the rocket a few hours before launch. Even earlier, the launch of this
rocket was postponed due to fuel leakage and engine failure. The mission is
important for NASA, as Artemis is the first man to return to the Moon in 50 years.
Artemis-1 launch cancelled: The American space agency NASA has again canceled
the launch of its Artemis-1 mission. Scientists discovered a fuel
leak in the rocket a few hours before launch. Even earlier, the launch of this
rocket was postponed due to fuel leakage and engine failure. The mission is
important for NASA, as Artemis is the first man to return to the Moon in 50 years.
What is the purpose of the Artemis mission?
Through this mission, NASA was to send an uncrewed rocket to orbit the
moon for a month. It aims to increase the participation of women in space
exploration in addition to establishing human settlements on the Moon. 30 percent of
Artemis-1 engineers are women. In addition, the Artemis-1 mission will
carry two mannequins designed to study the effects of radiation on women's
bodies, so NASA can learn how to better protect female astronauts.
The launch was scheduled to take place at 11.45 tonight
NASA halted the countdown after scientists discovered a fuel leak from
the rocket just hours before launch. As per the schedule, the rocket was
scheduled to launch on 3 September 2022 at 11.45 hours during a two-hour launch window. Even during the first launch of
this rocket last Sunday, NASA said that there was a technical fault in its
engine. For this reason, the Hydrogen team is in discussions with the Artemis-1 launch
director.
The last launch was halted due to engine temperature issues.
The Artemis 1 rocket was scheduled to launch last Sunday at 6:03 pm (IST). But
NASA stopped this mission 4 minutes before the launch. This rocket
was to be launched from America's Kennedy Space Center. But even before the
launch, the problem of engine temperature came to light. After which NASA
Administrator Bill Nelson said, "Unless it's right, we won't launch."
This is a very complex machine. And you can't send it until it's ready to go.
NASA wants to put humans on Mars with Artemis
NASA suffered a financial blow as the launch was halted. Because, one
launch costs 4.1 billion dollars. And NASA's Moon mission is several years behind
schedule. NASA's next mission, Artemis 2, will carry
astronauts into orbit around the Moon. However, it will not land on the surface
of the moon. But the Artemis 3 mission, which will begin in early 2025, will land
Artemis 3 on the Moon. The Moon has already been manned, so Artemis' second
mission is to take humans to Mars. The lunar orbiter will act as a staging and
refueling station for Mars missions before going to Mars.
