Websites blocked, apps have 48 hours to prove their authenticity: IT Ministry

The IT ministry has given banned websites and apps 48 hours to prove their authenticity, a senior government official said Thursday. Another senior ministry official said the platforms were banned because their business was not genuine. "Why should there be a ban if they are real? Measures have been taken against them," the ministry official said. Last week, the government ordered 232 apps operated by foreign companies, including Chinese ones, to be blocked for being involved in unauthorized betting, gambling and credit services.
