Buddy Valastro pranks TikTok user Nick DiGiovanni with a hyper-realistic chicken sandwich cake

The 45-year-old Cake Boss star posted a "Cake Boss Collab" photo on Instagram with chef Nick DiGiovanni on Thursday. The TikTok platform shares practical culinary techniques and collaborations with celebrities and chefs like Neil Patrick Harris and Gordon Ramsay. (DiGiovanni competed on Ramsay's MasterChef in season 10.) Valastro and DiGiovanni's mashup was shot in the quick and choppy style of DiGiovanni's usual TikToks, as they each made their sandwich.

In most of his videos, the internet chef begins by piercing the counter with a knife. Valastro naturally introduced himself by saying "Cake Boss!" while stabbing a pink cake to mimic DiGiovanni's usual introduction. Then DiGiovanni tossed a Popeyes wrapper. "We can do better!" he exclaimed.

The two chefs went back also forth in different frames, each with their own technique and ingredients, listing off ingredients ranging from pickle juice to buttermilk. Valastro closed the crispy chicken sandwich challenge in a relaxed manner at times.

"Use whatever seasonings you want, baby!" As he sprinkled spices into his breading, Valastro said. "Nice and crispy," Valastro said, lifting his chicken from the hot oil. He then stacked his sandwich on top of a bun, narrating the order of his sandwich ingredients: "Bun, chicken, pickles, mayo!"

Valastro offered a friendly "Salut!" as the pair toasted their respective chicken sandwiches before taking a bite. DiGiovanni immediately spit his out. "Oh look, there's cake!" Valastro made a remark. The hyper-realistic chicken sandwich was hilariously crumbled by DiGiovanni. "What the did he do?" Before Valastro handed him another tasty-looking plate of food, DiGiovanni said.
