Dolly Parton heard the bell.
The 76-year-old 11-time Grammy winner teamed up with Taco Bell for virtual live musical satire. Inspired by one of his favorite dishes, Mexican pizza, the May 19 musical celebrates the product's return to the menu after being discontinued in 2020.
"I did #MexicanPizzaTheMusical with @TacoBell," Parton wrote on Instagram. He posted a message with a photo on the script's cover that read, "Based on a true story, the internet lost its mind."
"This is it! We're making music for my favorite pizza, Mexican pizza," Parton added on his Instagram Story. "Can't wait to see you!"
After a successful fan campaign to bring the popular dish back to Taco Bell's menu, Doja Cat made a jingle on TikTok in March.
Parton will appear alongside Dodge, 26, and Kunda in the musical, which Entertainment Weekly says will also feature some as-yet-unknown special guests.
Written by Hannah Friedman (Obi-Wan Kenobi, Willow, Wet Hot American Summer: The First Day of Camp) with music by Grammy-winning duo Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear (Bridgerton's Unofficial Musical), Mexican Pizza: The Musical is slated for release. Thursday, May 26 at 5 PM PT on TikTok at Taco Bell. "I think I should!" Parton said in January.
"I like soft shells," he added. "I like others, but they fall apart, especially when driving. So I always go for Taco Supreme, with sour cream and everything in a softshell. I love it."
"I got an order of rice and beans. And I got a mild sauce. I don't like getting too hot and ruining things," Parton said.
