Duff Goldman Praises Wife Johnna, and They're 'Out in the Woods' Life: 'We're Madly in Love'

Duff Goldman is re-creating the life he cherished as a child for his family.

Duff, the master baker behind Charm City Cakes and a beloved TV host before becoming the master baker behind Charm City Cakes and a particular TV host, was raised in the rural area of Sandwich on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and his new Food Network show Ace of Taste premieres on Sunday. Duff, who has a 15-month-old daughter, Josephine, with their wife Johnna, is emulating that small-town feel for his daughter "way out in the woods" in Topanga, Calif.

"Sandwich has three traffic lights. It's a small, rural community. It's just where I feel most at ease, "Duff informs the news.

"When Josephine was born, there were many things I just wanted to make sure she grew up with, like growing up amongst nature."

In January, Duff, 47, and Johnna, 28, celebrated three years of marriage, and the new father says he's "definitely settled into domesticity" at their home in the Santa Monica Mountains. Of course, Topanga is still a part of Los Angeles, but "you'd never know it," he says. "At night, there is no noise. There are some stars. There isn't any light pollution. As if we were out here."

That serenity has allowed the couple, who married at the Museum of Natural History in Los Angeles after dating for nearly three years, to form an unbreakable bond.

"My wife and I are madly in love." We're madly in love with each other. We're never apart. "Even before the pandemic, we were always together," Duff says. "There was no fighting. Throughout the pandemic, some people were thinking, 'Oh my god, I just can't be in this house with you anymore.' But the two of us are because we turn everything into a game. We try to make everything as enjoyable as possible so that it works. We're goofy with each other, and now the baby is too."

They get up with the sun around 5 a.m. and go to bed around 9 p.m. The couple's date nights are more akin to day dates during what they refer to as "outdoor dates."
