Following his surprise visit, Lil Yachty also expressed his appreciation to the workers.
Lil Yachty collaborated with McDonald's to express gratitude to their crew members: During the visit, he exclaimed, "It's been a minute since I made a McChicken!" Lil Yachty returned to his roots by surprising McDonald's crew members at an Atlanta restaurant.
The 24-year-old rapper is a former McDonald's team member who posted a TikTok video of himself getting back in the kitchen to assemble McChicken sandwiches like part of a new partnership with the company.
"I swear to you, I used to do this," he said as he put the sandwich together. "I'm rusty, but I got those things on there."
"It is been a while I made a McChicken! I'm aware of how hard the @mcdonaldsCrew works, "He captioned the image. "I appreciate you!"
"I just wanted to show my heartfelt appreciation to everyone on the crew. I used to work at McDonald's, so I understand what it's like to work in that industry, "he said in the video. "I just wanted to thank everyone who is here. I appreciate you working so hard and so hard."
The surprise visit was part of McDonald's new "Thank You Crew" initiative, allowing customers to recognize McDonald's crew and managers in their neighborhood restaurants. According to a press release, these employees will be rewarded with "one-of-a-kind thank-you experiences."
"I grasped a lot working at McDonald's before my music career took off, and this visit brought those memories back to me," Lil Yachty said. "I give a lot of credit to everyone on the McDonald's team for showing up and working hard every day. They deserve big things, real celebrations, also I'm here to help them get them."
"This is the 1st time I have ever been with any organization that has ever done anything like this for us, so we feel appreciated," one crew member said in a McDonald's YouTube video.
"It motivates me to move up from where I am, knowing that you can start from the bottom and end up on top," another team member added.
