Platinum Jubilee: The Queen of England celebrates 70 years in power, and the lemon zest will be part of a milestone.

Queen Elizabeth II of England became the 1st British monarch to celebrate her 70th birthday on February 6. His historic reign will be marked as a platinum anniversary during a special weekend from June 2-5, 2022. The festive anniversary weekend will include various public events, community activities, and initiatives.

And can any celebration be complete without food?

The official pudding representing the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration has just been chosen it's Trifle with Lemon and Swiss Roll Amaretti. The Duchess of Cornwall has announced the pudding and its creator Gemma Melvin as the national competition winners.

The competition is organized by Fortnum and Mason and broadcast on news One to find the proper pudding, pie, or holiday cake for the Queen and her 70th platinum birthday celebration. There were reportedly around 5,000 entries for the competition, ranging from eight to 108. Five finalists were then added to the roster for the Jubilee Pudding title, which eventually went to 31-year-old Gemma Melvin.

Inspired by her grandmother, Gemma Melvin's little pudding was the talk of the town at Queen's celebrations. "I think we'll be making Gemma little things without a doubt for at least the next 50 to 100 years," said Roger Paisy, senior pastry chef at Fortnum & Mason. Gema's Trifle is made of layers of Swiss Roll with lemon curd, St. Clement's jelly, lemon cream, tangerine, amaretti biscuits, and fresh whipped cream. These ingredients can be readily purchased at the local supermarket, making the recipe even more accessible and more suitable not only for the Queen but also for the whole country.
